YEA! and Linda Hughes Host 1st Happy Hour WOB Clinic At Pikes Peak Celtic Festival, 2017 With Mona Malec
About The Event:
Join us on Friday, June 16, 5pm on the grounds of the festival for this unique clinic taught by master thrower Mona Malec.
This clinic is open to men and women of all skill levels. Then take what you learn and apply it the next 2 game days!
PS: Happy hour beverages are optional and according to game rules must be purchased from festival vendors.
About Mona Malec:
Note From Clinic Host: In my mind, Mona Malec is a superstar in the Scottish Highland Games and in life. Her throws are breathtakingly great. And you would think that these throws must come from someone with an equally sized ego. Not the case at all.
Ms. Malec is one of the most supportive athletes on the field – she cheers you on and finds the gold in your every attempt. No matter who you are, no matter what your skill level, she welcomes you into the games with loving arms. She also keeps the laughter and crazy high jinks going throughout any game day. Off the field, she is an accomplished business woman, knocking down new goals and barriers every day.
Ms. Malec threw in her first game in 2011 at the age of 43. In 2014 at the Pikes Peak Celtic Festival Game, she cleared a 16’6″ WOB with the 28# women’s open weight. A year later in Phoenix she cleared 19’6″ WOB with the 21# women’s masters weight. Anybody who has ever thrown WOB knows these heights take some serious skill!
Mona loves the detail of throwing WOB, it reminds her of the requirements of a dead lift. It looks simple; but the devil is in the details.
And we are truly fortunate to have her share those details with us at this 1st ever Happy Hour WOB Clinic!
The photo posted with this event is when Mona Malec threw WOB at the Phoenix, AZ Games, 2015 and was taken by photographer Dana MacDonald.
RSVP to have an accurate head count; fee for clinic is $25.00 cash, pay Linda Hughes at the event.
Although this clinic will be at an RMSA Scottish Highland Games Event, with their knowledge and approval, it is actually hosted by YEA! Your Exercese Adventures and Linda Hughes.
